Universal has begun its initial steps toward recruiting for what could become its first European theme park.
The company estimates that up to 28,000 jobs could be created by 2031 if the proposed development — on land that includes the former Kempston Hardwick brickworks near Bedford — receives planning approval.
Universal Destinations & Experiences, the theme park division of the US entertainment giant, has launched a form on its website inviting people to register their interest in future employment opportunities.
A map on the site highlights Bedford’s central position, with easy links to Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge, and London — suggesting wide-reaching job prospects for people across the region.
The registration form asks applicants about their location and job preferences, with possible roles in administration, construction, entertainment, human resources, and park and resort operations.
The company notes that “it may be some time before these roles become available” and encourages anyone who has previously expressed interest to fill out the form again to ensure their details are up to date.
