Councillor Adam Zerny, an Executive leader for bedfordshire council has provided a statement that Universal has submitted planning application to the government for the proposed new theme park in Bedfordshire and consultation will commence at midday on 3rd July and will run until midday on 31st August.
UNIVERSAL PLANNING APPLICATION SUBMITTED TO THE GOVERNMENT.
Universal has now submitted a planning application to the government for the proposed new theme park in Bedfordshire.
Back in April, the news broke that the theme park had received government backing, and at the time, I put together a list of FAQs which can be found here:
At the time, I met with Universal to talk about the implications for the new theme park. While there is much excitement, I am pleased to see there is also an acknowledgement there will be an impact on the local area. The company is eager to work with Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC), as much as possible, to ensure the theme park becomes the positive experience many expect, and to make sure any negative impacts are minimised.
Universal is also eager to hear the public’s views in the forthcoming consultation, and today, the company put in a planning application to the government.
In the weeks to come, the government will be inviting the public to comment on the application. It will be putting all the documents, plans, and drawings online, and any comments can then be made to the government directly.
We understand the consultation will commence at midday on 3rd July and will run until midday on 31st August.
As soon as all the details are available, I will be publicising them, here.
The government will make the official planning decision.
Universal is involving very senior people within the company. Pictured with me are Mark Woodbury, CEO of Universal Destinations, Page Thompson, Universal’s President of New Ventures, and John McReynolds, Senior Vice President, Universal.
There will still be many steps to come, but what I see so far, looks very positive.
